TinyBrains partners celebrate the first-year general assembly

On February 15th, the TinyBrains Consortium held its first General Assembly meeting. While several partners gathered in Barcelona for an in-person meeting, those that could not fly joined virtually from home.

The Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, HemoPhotonics and BioPixS teams gathered at ICFO. The day started with the project’s coordinator Turgut Durduran giving an overview of the project status.

Then, each work package leader explained the progress made during the first months, giving details on the things achieved and the foreseen risks or obstacles. ICFO project manager Judith Salvador first looked through Postdoctoral researcher at ICFO Anurag Behera explained the work done concerning the module and platform development. Then, clinicians Joan Sánchez and Marta Camprubí went through the pre-clinical and clinical studies with the TinyBrains platform.

After lunch, BioPixS CEO Sanathana Konugolu Venakata Sekar explained the ex-vivo phantom validation and standardization. Then, Fabrice Wallois, a researcher at the University de Picardie Jules Verne, revised the physiological and pathophysiological characterization and data analysis.

Finally, Marta Martín from ICFO’s Science Communication team explained the progress of the communication strategies, reviewed the actions taken and the materials created so far as well as commented on the next steps foreseen for the following months. HemoPhotonics cofounder Udo Weigel explained the Exploitation plan, which led to a specific meeting on the topic led the company and  Seneel.

Partners agreed to hold a technical meeting at the end of March. This meeting aims test and adjust the probing device.
